Cougars open volleyball season at home
After a season in which it played its first 13 matches on the road, the Columbus State volleyball team will start 2016 at home in the Lumpkin Center.
Whether the long road trip played or a factor or not, the Cougars suffered through a dismal season, finishing at 5-25 overall and 2-16 in the Peach Belt Conference.
“It’s very important to play talented opponents throughout the season to help the team improve,” CSU coach Casey Cornett said. “This schedule will do just that and make us earn every win we post this season.
“We are excited to hit the court to begin practice and can’t wait for the season opener.”
The Cougars open the season with the 2016 Hughston Clinic Invite. CSU hosts Mars Hill at 7 p.m. on Sept. 2. The Cougars play a pair of matches on Sept. 3: vs. Converse at 12;30 p.m. and Emmanuel at 4:30 p.m.
The PBC season begins at home against Augusta on Sept. 16 at 6 p.m.
