Columbus State volleyball team heads overseas

The Columbus State volleyball team is headed to Ireland.

The Lady Cougars leave Saturday for a 10-day trip. CSU announced plans for the trip on Friday.

“This trip is a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes,” CSU coach Casey Cornett said in a news release. “It offers the chance for our ladies to grow as individuals and as a team while experiencing a different culture.

“Additionally, it will allow us to get a head start on our preparation for the upcoming season and we are looking forward to getting back out on the court.”

CSU will be staying at the Waterford Institute of Technology campus as they prepare for the upcoming season. CSU will go through preseason practice as part of the trip in addition to exploring Ireland.

CSU opens the 2016 season on Sept. 2 at home.
