Columbus State announces schedules for golf teams

Columbus State announced its golf scheduled for the fall earlier this week.

The highlight for the men will be the annual Aflac/Cougar Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus. This year, it will take place on Sept. 26-27.

CSU has won its tournament twice in the past three years, including last year.

The Cougars open the 2016-17 season on the road at the St. Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla., on Sept. 19-20.

The week after the Aflac/Cougar Invitational, the Cougars will head to the UNG Fall Invitational in Dahlonega, Ga., on Oct. 3-4.

The fall season comes to a close on Oct. 17-18 as the Cougars play in the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club in Killen, Ala.

CSU won the Peach Belt Conference championship last season and finished sixth in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional.

Meanwhile, the Lady Cougars will start Sept. 24-25 at the Battle At Old South in Bluffton, S.C. They will compete in the Sand Shark Shootout at Innisbrook, Fla., on Oct. 3-4.

On Oct. 17-18, CSU will compete in the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in Dahlonega, Ga. The Lady Cougars wrap up the fall season at the Flagler Fall Slam on Oct. 24-25 at St. Augustine, Fla.

“We are looking forward to our fall schedules,” CSU Director of Golf Mark Immelman said. “Both teams are young, but very talented teams and we are traveling to some super venues.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun to show off our skills and see how we stack up against the perennially strong fields.”
