Auburn softball headed to Women’s College World Series
The Auburn softball team swept Arizona 4-1 and 6-1 on Sunday at Jane B. Moore Field.
The two wins gives Auburn the Super Regional title and moves the Tigers into the Women’s College World Series, which starts Thursday.
After losing to Arizona on Saturday, Auburn (54-10) faced a must-win situation on Sunday.
The Tigers trailed 1-0 in the first game until they scored four times in the top of the fourth inning.
Tiffany Howard drove in a pair of runs with a single, and Haley Fagan doubled in two.
That was enough for Makayla Martin, who allowed just one run on five hits in seven innings.
Auburn jumped out front in the second game, scoring twice in the first and twice in the third for a 4-0 lead.
Fagan hit a homer in the fourth.
