Auburn’s new 2020 football schedule is out. See who the Tigers play this fall
Auburn’s new 2020 football schedule is finally official.
The Tigers, along with the rest of the SEC, learned their new schedule Monday, when the conference released further details of its 10-game, conference-only season.
It could be Bo Nix vs. Joey Gatewood to open the 2020 season: Auburn will face Kentucky at home on Sept. 26.
The Tigers travel to Georgia Oct. 3, in Week 2, and host national champion LSU on Oct. 31.
The Tigers travel to Alabama for the Iron Bowl Nov. 28 -- not the final week of the regular season, going against tradition. The Tigers wrap up the regular season the following week with a home game against Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M.
The league previously announced that it has moved back the start of the season to Sept. 26 and the SEC Championship Game to Dec. 19.
Auburn began fall practices Monday, with only four Tigers unable to practice due to COVID-19 protocol. The Tigers saw 33 positive cases from players and one case from a coach over the summer. No positive cases were reported in the team’s most recent batch of testing, which Malzahn said occurred last week.
“This a year about adjusting,” Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said during his Monday Zoom press conference. “The teams that adjust are going to have an advantage. It is what it is. ... Usually you go into the season and you’ve got the first three opponents broken down. We’ll be playing catch-up really fast along with everybody in our conference the next few weeks.”
