Auburn football: Offensive tackle Roszell Gayden leaves program

AUBURN, Ala. — Offensive tackle Roszell Gayden, whose Auburn career was derailed by injuries before it ever started, has left the football program.

Originally from New Hope, Minn., the 6-foot-6, 315-pound Gayden signed with Auburn in December after playing last season at College of the Sequoias in California.

Despite enrolling in the winter, the highly-touted tackle never got his footing with the Tigers. He was limited by a knee injury in the spring and didn’t recover enough to make his move during two-a-days.

He didn’t play a snap this fall, slowed further by a shoulder problem that required his arm to be in a sling.

Gayden was an afterthought when A.J. Greene won the starting right tackle job at the end of August. Once Greene broke his ankle against Clemson, another junior college transfer, Brandon Mosley, slid into the starting spot.

Gayden plans to finish the semester and transfer, according to AuburnUndercover.com.
