Auburn football: Last-minute notes prior to kickoff versus Texas A&M

AUBURN, Ala. — We're a little less than half an hour away from kickoff of today's game between No. 3 Auburn and Texas A&M in the Tigers' final Southeastern Conference home game of the season. Before it starts, here are a few pregame odds and ends from Jordan-Hare Stadium.

For the second straight week, senior safety Jermaine Whitehead took part in warmups with the second-team defense. That didn't mean much during the Ole Miss contest, however, as Whitehead never took the field with the defense. Since his reinstatement in October following a monthlong suspension, Whitehead has only seen reps with the kickoff return team.

As expected, walk-on true freshman Ike Powell was announced as the expected starter at long snapper. Forrest Hill, who has handled the duties in every game this year, left last week's win over the Rebels with an undisclosed injury and did not return.

Angelo Blackson will get the starting nod at defensive tackle in place of Ben Bradley.

Cameron Artis-Payne's rushing yards for the season has been cut by five yards, going from 974 to 969. It occurred after Ole Miss' stats crew corrected its game file Thursday.

For the first time this reporter can recall, the opponent, in this case Texas A&M, had no changes to its lineup card.

Spirit will fly from the flagpole in with 16 minutes remaining on the pregame clock.

The temperature was 58 degrees an hour before kickoff, with a light breeze and clear skies.
