AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn's spot in the College Football Playoff rankings now mirrors its placement in both of the major polls.
In the latest College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night, the Tigers came in at No. 9, a six-spot drop from last week when they were solidly in the four-team bracket at No. 3. Auburn was also No. 9 in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches' polls released Sunday.
At No. 9 in the CFP rankings, Auburn had the highest spot among teams with two losses, one slot ahead of No. 10 Ole Miss, who the Tigers beat 35-31 on Nov. 1 in Oxford, Miss.
Mississippi State remained No. 1, but there was some shakeup among the rest of the bracket. Florida State fell from No. 2 to No. 3 despite being undefeated. Taking No. 2 was Oregon while Texas Christian came in at No. 4.
That means the matchups, if played today, would feature the Bulldogs and Horned Frogs in the Sugar Bowl in one semifinal and the Seminoles taking on the Ducks in the Rose Bowl on the opposite side of the bracket.
The final College Football Rankings will be released Dec. 7.
