AUBURN, Ala. — Though Auburn never officially ruled out receiver D'haquille Williams for Saturday's game at Georgia, the chances of him taking the field appeared to be slim.
Leave it to the junior himself to break his own news.
Williams took to his Twitter account Friday afternoon, revealing he wasn't part of the Tigers' travel party as it departed for Athens.
"Wanna wish the team a safe trip to (A)thens bring home that W," he tweeted.
Auburn has yet to confirm Williams did not travel with the team.
Gus Malzahn revealed Wednesday Williams had not taken part in any practices this week.
The Louisiana native injured his right knee in the second quarter of last week's 41-38 loss to Texas A&M and did not return.
Enrolling in January after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Williams has more than lived up to the billing that accompanied him when he arrived on campus. He leads the Tigers in receptions (38), receiving yardage (609) and receiving touchdowns (five). He also has three games of 100-plus receiving yards.
