AUBURN, Ala. — Cameron Artis-Payne's big senior season has him in contention for one of the nation's biggest awards.
On Wednesday, the Auburn senior was named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award, which is annually given to the nation's top running back. Artis-Payne leads the SEC in rushing yards (1,276) and carries (228) and has 10 rushing touchdowns, one behind five players (including teammate Nick Marshall) with 11.
Artis-Payne is the SEC's only representative.
The other nine semifinalists are: Ameer Abdullah (Nebraska), Jay Ajayi (Boise State), Javorius Allen (Southern Cal), Matt Breida (Georgia Southern), Tevin Coleman (Indiana), James Conner (Pittsburgh), Melvin Gordon (Wisconsin), Devon Johnson (Marshall) and Duke Johnson (Miami).
The three finalists for the award will be announced Nov. 25.
The winner will then be revealed during The Home Depot College Football Awards show Dec. 11.
