AUBURN, Ala. -- Four runs in the last two innings by Arkansas proved to be too much for Auburn to overcome Sunday, as the Razorbacks took a 6-3 victory at Plainsman Park to capture the weekend series.
Auburn (19-13, 4-8 SEC) had moved ahead 3-2 in the sixth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Cody Nulph. But the Razorbacks (16-15, 5-7) answered in the top of the eighth, with Carson Shaddy doubling off the wall and Joe Serrano hitting a single through the right side to put the visitors back on top 4-3. Arkansas added two more runs in the final inning to clinch the victory.
Dalton Rentz (1-1) was credited with the loss for Auburn, wasting a solid effort from starter Rocky McCord, who allowed two runs in six innings of work. Offensively, third baseman Kyler Deese led the way for the Tigers, finishing 3-for-3 with two walks an RBI.
Auburn now turns its attention to Georgia State, which comes to town Wednesday for a non-conference tilt. The game will begin at 7 p.m. ET.
