Top-ranked LSU drops Auburn in series finale

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Auburn wasn't able to recover from spotting top-ranked LSU an early lead Sunday, falling in the series finale 6-2.

Auburn (21-14, 5-9 SEC) allowed all six of the runs in the first three innings. Starting pitcher Rocky McCord (2-3) was tagged for every run -- on six hits -- before being taken out after just two innings of work.

Sophomore catcher Ben Craft had his first career multi-hit game in the loss, finishing 3-for-3.

With the win, No. 1 LSU improved to 30-6 overall and 10-5 in SEC play.

Auburn now prepares for a non-conference home date versus Alabama State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
