Auburn practice report, 4/15: Safety Tray Matthews in non-contact jersey

AUBURN, Ala. — Reporters were permitted to view approximately 20 minutes of practice on Tuesday, which marked the 12th session of the spring for Auburn.

Very little in the way of news, so only a few tidbits to spare.

Safety Tray Matthews is apparently dealing with a minor injury of some sort. He wasn't noticeably limping, so hopefully we'll get clarification from coach Gus Malzahn in his post-practice press conference this evening.

In other injury news, three others also donned the non-contact jerseys: receiver Stanton Truitt and defensive backs Josh Holsey and Tim Irvin.

This reporter didn't see it with his own eyes, but a photo was later tweeted out of receiver Tony Stevens on a scooter with his foot in a boot. Expect this to be another one of the questions asked to Malzahn in his post-practice press conference this evening.

The trio of Marcus Davis, Stephen Roberts and Jason Smith were returning punts.

Finally, there was a slight change in the first-team offensive line: Devonte Danzey was at left guard in place of Alex Kozan. The rest of the starting unit was the same: Shon Coleman at left tackle, Austin Golson at center, Braden Smith at right guard and Avery Young at right tackle. The second-team had Kozan, Xavier Dampeer, Robert Leff, Tyler Carr and Bailey Sharp.

Oh, and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Cam Newton was in attendance today, too. So there's that.
