Michigan State defeats Auburn 3-0 in Cox Diamond Invitational

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Michigan State pitchers spread five hits over nine innings Saturday and shut out Auburn 3-0 in the Cox Diamond Invitational.

Ethan Landon (1-0) allowed four hits and struck out six over six innings to pick up the win for the Spartans (7-1). Casey Mize allowed two runs on seven hits over seven innings and took the loss.

Anfernee Grier (Russell County) went 1-for-3 for Auburn (6-5).

In Friday's game, Auburn's Grier went 3-for-5, but Troy defeated the Tigers 4-3 in 11 innings.

Corey Childress (1-0) got the win in relief. Ben Braymer (1-1) took the loss in relief for Auburn.

Auburn plays Southern Mississippi today at 4 p.m.
