Auburn falls to Vanderbilt in Game 1 of doubleheader
Auburn scored the first two runs of the game, but the Tigers couldn’t make it hold up, losing 5-2 to Vanderbilt on Thursday in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Hawkins Field.
Blake Logan doubled in two runs in the top of the first inning as the Tigers took a 2-0 lead. Logan finished with three hits.
Auburn right-hander Justin Camp gave up four runs in seven innings to fall to 3-5.
Anfernee Grier went 0-for-2 at the plate, but he reached on a walk. He stole a base for his 19th of the season, the most for an Auburn player since 2012.
Game 2 of the doubleheader was played late Thursday night.
The teams will not play Friday as the forecast calls for rain. Game 3 of the series will be played Saturday.
