Arizona sixth inning rally key in 5-3 win over Auburn
The Arizona softball team scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and went to down Auburn 5-2 on Saturday night in Game 1 of a NCAA Super Regional.
Arizona loaded the bases on three straight one-out singles, then scored on a hit by pitch, an error and a fielder’s choice.
Down 1-0, Auburn scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the third.
Madi Gipson doubled to lead off, and Whitney Jordan was hit by a pitch. After a sacrifice bunt, a pair of errors on a ball hit by T. Howard allowed both Gipson and Jordan to score.
With the loss, Auburn must win twice on Sunday to return to the College World Series. Sunday’s first game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
