Auburn running back Jovon Robinson responded late Wednesday night on Twitter to coach Gus Malzahn’s decision

to dismiss the senior from the team.

“Im (sic) not the one in front of the camera making excuses, seek the truth,” Robinson tweeted out at 9:59 p.m.

Robinson uses the social media platform sparingly with an account set to private, but followed his initial reaction with a second tweet less than 30 minutes later.

“Outside influences are never good,” Robinson said.

Malzahn dismissed Robinson from the team before Auburn’s first preseason practice. The coach declined to discuss what prompted to the decision other than to say Robinson didn’t meet the standards for being an Auburn Tiger.

“We are going to have zero distractions on this team this year,” Malzahn said. “I have given him his release and welcome him the best.”

Robinson was expected to be the team’s starting running back this season following the departure of Roc Thomas (transfer) and Peyton Barber (NFL Draft).

The reaction from Robinson’s teammates was one of surprise.

“Jovon is a great guy and a great teammate,” Davis said.

Davis, who worked out with Robinson during the summer, didn’t see anything from those workouts that would lead that would concern the coaching staff.
