Brookstone tight end Vogler commits to Alabama football
Brookstone tight end Brian Vogler said Wednesday he will sign with Alabama on national signing day, next February.
Vogler made his announcement at noon at a press conference at Brookstone School.
Alabama and Oklahoma were his top choices, and he said he chose to play for the Crimson Tide in large part because of the welcome they gave him and the way he was told he would be utilized.
"With Alabama, I felt comfortable the second I got there," Vogler said. "When I left, I missed it right away."
Vogler (6-foot-7, 248 pounds) is rated as the No. 5 tight end prospect in the nation, according to rivals.com, a recruiting Web site.
"At my size, I'm probably not going to be able to catch an SEC (defensive back) or safety," Vogler said. "... But they told me how they can incorporate my size into their offense."
Vogler said he had offers from more than 30 BCS schools and more than 40 schools total.
