TUSCALOOSA — The 24-year-old female who said she was in a “verbal dispute that turned physical” with former Alabama defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor has recanted her statement, according to police.
Taylor, who was arrested Saturday for domestic violence charges, was dismissed from the football team on Sunday.
Police arrested Taylor because the accuser said Taylor caused injuries to her neck and damaged property in an apartment. But police said the accuser contacted investigators on Monday because she wanted to “recant her statements about the previous domestic violence incidents and that Taylor did not harm her.”
Police said the accuser was interviewed on Tuesday, and it was determined she had “lied about the previous incidents.”

Investigators charged her with “false reporting to law enforcement,” and placed her in County Jail before releasing her after she posted bond.
Authorities have not released her name because the “investigation is ongoing.”
With the accuser recanting her statement, authorities said the charges against Taylor will be “reviewed at a later date.”
