HOOVER, Ala. -- After losing in extra innings Friday, Georgia shook off the defeat to hand Alabama an 8-1 loss Saturday.
Georgia (20-16, 6-8 SEC) plated three runs in both the third and and sixth innings, which was more than enough for starting pitcher Ryan Lawlor. The junior went seven innings, striking out 11 batters and allowing only one run, to move to 4-4 this season.
Alabama (17-16, 5-9) scored its only run on a two-out, RBI single from Georgie Salem. Crimson Tide hurler Will Carter fell to 1-5 with Saturday's defeat.Alabama had no such trouble Friday, outlasting Georgia 7-6 in a game that went 11 innings.
The rubber match of the series will take place Sunday. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. ET and will air on the SEC Network.
