Former Central, Alabama great Woodrow Lowe named SEC Legend
Former Alabama great Woodrow Lowe was named as one of the SEC's Football Legends for 2015.
The former player and coach at Central High will be honored -- along with one player from each of the other 13 SEC schools -- during the SEC's Weekend of Champions in Atlanta Dec. 4-5. The SEc Legends Dinner will be held Dec. 4 at the Hyatt Regency. The group will also be recognized before the SEC championship game on Dec. 5.
Lowe played for Coach Bear Bryant from 1972-75. He is one of only two players from Alabama to earn All-America status three times.
In 1973, he set an Alabama record with 134 tackles. That record still stands today.
He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
The other legends announced Tuesday are Madre Hill (Arkansas), Takeo Spikes (Auburn), Fred Taylor (Florida), Richard Seymour (Georgia), Dave Roller (Kentucky), Alan Faneca (LSU), Ken Lucas (Ole Miss), Mario Haggan (Mississippi State), Roger Wehrli (Missouri), Andre' Goodman (South Carolina), Chuck Smith (Tennessee), Bubba Bean (Texas A&M) and Earl Bennett (Vanderbilt).
