Alabama rallies to defeat Troy 2-1
TROY, Ala. -- Alabama rallied for two runs in the top of the eighth inning Tuesday night and held on to edge Troy 2-1 at Riddle-Pace Field.
With the game tied 1-1 in the eighth, Chance Vincent singled home Chandler Avant with the go-ahead run. Vincent went 3-for-4 in the game. Georgie Salem and Cody Henry each had two hits for the Tide (7-1).
Sam Finnerty (1-0) worked one inning of scoreless relief for the win. Thomas Burrows picked up his fourth save by working the final 1 1-3 innings. Marc Skinner (Smiths Station) took the loss in relief. Skinner (0-1) gave up one run on three hits over two innings.
Alabama plays in the USA Baseball-Irish Classic this weekend in Cary, N.C. The Tide faces Notre Dame Friday at 5 p.m.
