Bramblett shuts down Notre Dame as Alabama wins 4-0

CARY, N.C. -- Geoffrey Bramblett spread five hits over eight innings and struck out six Friday night as Alabama shut out Notre Dame 4-0 at the USA Baseball-Irish Classic.

Cody Henry provided all the offense needed with a three-run double in the top of the first inning.

Bramblett (1-0) faced just 29 batters and threw only 108 pitches in the win. Matt Foster worked the ninth inning for Alabama (8-1).

Ryan Smoyer (1-2) gave up four runs on five hits over 6 1-3 innings and took the loss for Notre Dame (4-4).

Alabama plays two games today, Niagara at 12:30 p.m. and N.C. State at 4:30 p.m.
