Walters, Burrows lead Tide in win 2-0 win over Ole Miss 2-0

Starter Jake Walters and reliever Thomas Burrows spread five hits over nine innings Saturday as Alabama shut out No. 8 Ole Miss 2-0 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Cobie Vance singled in Georgie Salem in the fifth inning, and Chandler Avant scored on an error in the eighth for the only runs the Tide (21-14, 7-7 Southeastern Conference) would need.

Walters (3-3) allowed four hits over seven innings to pick up the win. Burrows gave up just one hit in his two innings.

David Parkinson (1-1) allowed one run on six hits over seven innings and was the hard-luck loser.

Ole Miss (26-9, 7-7) took the first game of the series 4-0 on Friday night.

The final game of the series is Sunday at 2 p.m.

Alabama hosts Troy on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
