Tide has new four-star commit at receiver

Almost a week after adding its second quarterback to the 2017 class, Alabama now has a new top receiver for their quarterbacks to throw to.

Tyrell Shavers, a four-star receiver from Lewisville, Texas, committed to the Crimson Tide on Monday according to 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow.

Shavers, 6-foot-6, 202 pounds, is ranked the No. 159 recruit overall and No. 23 receiver in the country according to 247Sports. He is Alabama’s first wide receiver commitment in the 2017 class. He attends Lewisville High School.

Shavers is the the Crimson Tide’s fifth 2017 commit in the past week, joining Elliot Baker (four-star JUCO offensive tackle, San Francisco), Mac Jones (four-star quarterback, Jacksonville, Fla.), Markail Benton (four-star outside linebacker, Phenix City) and kicker Brandon Ruiz from Gilbert, Ariz.

The addition of Shavers brings Alabama’s class to 14 members.
