Saban suspends Alphonse Taylor indefinitely
Alabama head coach Nick Saban suspended offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor “indefinitely” Monday after the senior was arrested for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident Sunday.
"We are very disappointed any time a player makes a choice that leads to this kind of behavior," Saban said in a statement released to the media. "We are still in the process of gathering all of the details on the situation, but from a football standpoint, Alphonse Taylor has been indefinitely suspended from the team."
Taylor, who was voted to the preseason All-SEC second team by the media Friday, started all 15 games for the Crimson Tide last season. He worked with Alabama’s second-team offense during the spring and was criticized by Saban for not being in shape. Taylor is currently listed at 6-foot-5, 345 pounds on Alabama’s official website.
