Former Alabama great Shaun Alexander to speak at local Bama club

Former Alabama great Shaun Alexander will be the guest speaker at the Chattahoochee Valley Bama Club meeting on Aug. 25.

The dinner program will take place at 6:45 p.m. at Green Island Country Club at 6501 Standing Boy Road in Columbus.

Tickets are $50 per adult and $25 for students. Tickets will be sold the the door. All proceeds benefit nine Alabama scholarship endowments for local students.

Alexander finished his Alabama career in 1999 y leading the Tide to the SEC championship. He finished his career with 3,565 yards.

He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks. He was named the NFL’s MVP in 2005 as he led the Seahawks to the Super Bowl.

Also scheduled to appear at the dinner are Brian Vogler, Sirhan Stacy and Cecil Hurt.

Vogler is a former Brookstone and Alabama player, who is now an assistant coach at Hardaway. Stacy played running back at Alabama from 1989-90. Hurt is a writer for the Tuscaloosa News.
