Weber, Curry lead Georgia to 12-4 win over Alabama
Skyler Weber and Michael Curry each drove in three runs Saturday to lead Georgia to a 12-4 win over Alabama at Foley Field.
Stephen Wrenn homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning and the Bulldogs kept rolling along. Georgia (17-12, 4-5 SEC) exploded for seven runs on seven hits in the fourth inning to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
Alabama’s Hunter Webb (Russell County) had a double and an RBI. Georgia’s Trevor Kieboom (CVCC) had a double. Ray Castillo (Russell County) held the Bulldogs scoreless for 1 1/3 innings.
Connor Jones (4-1) allowed four runs on six over 7 2/3 innings and got the win. Nick Eicholtz (1-1) gave up seven runs on nine hits over three innings and took the loss for Alabama (16-11, 5-4).
In Friday’s game, Georgia’s Robert Tyler (3-1) lost a no-hitter with two outs in the top of the ninth on a homer by Georgie Salem, but he got the next batter out and Georgia defeated Alabama 7-1. After losing Thursday night’s game 10-7, Georgia took the final two game of the series.
Georgia hosts Clemson Tuesday at 7 p.m. Alabama hosts Alcorn State Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
