Gonzalez homer powers Tech to win over Georgia in 10 innings

Matt Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning Tuesday night to lift Georgia Tech to a 6-3 win over Georgia in the Spring Baseball Classic at Turner Field.

Tech (34-18, 12-14) had taken a 3-1 lead after three innings. Georgia (26-27, 10-17 SEC) picked up single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game. Neither team could tally in the final three innings, setting up Gonzalez’s heroics. Kel Johnson hit a solo shot to add the final run

Zach Ryan (3-2) worked a hitless final 3 2/3 innings and picked up the win.

Blake Cairnes (0-1) pitched the final two innings and took the loss for Georgia.
