ATHENS - In the just-released USA Today coaches poll, Georgia has opened the 2011 season at about the same spot it opened last year.
The Bulldogs came in ranked 22nd in the nation, one spot ahead of Florida.
Last year Georgia opened at 21, where it stayed for one week, then moved up to No. 19, before falling at South Carolina and never returning to the poll.
Boise State, which meets Georgia to open the season, came in at No. 7 in the poll. South Carolina is No. 12.
There are eight SEC teams listed in the poll. But Georgia doesn't play three of the first four teams: No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 LSU and No. 14 Arkansas. The other opponents who are ranked were No. 19 Auburn and No. 20 Mississippi State.

The Associated Press writers poll is due to come out later this month. Yours truly will be a voting member.
