Notes: Injuries, Boise State game details, non-conference scheduling

A smorgesboard of here-and-there notes as I wait out Georgia's practice this evening:

Injury updates

- Ease up any worries on Richard Samuel not getting back in time for the opener. The junior tailback was back out taking first-team reps on Monday, and looked fine running. He was in a green non-contact jersey, as he was previous days, but in the previous practice on Saturday he wasn't really doing much.

- As for John Jenkins, it may be time to wonder about how healthy he'll be for the opener. He missed a second straight practice on Monday, and was on the side doing lifting and conditioning drills with strength coach Joe Tereshinski. They may just be taking it cautious with the big nose tackle, and his mild hamstring injury probably is really mild. But it's still potentially around a week of practice he's going to miss, which means that failing a quick recovery and big push in the final week, Kwame Geathers will be the starter against Boise State.

- Receiver Marlon Brown was not working out with his unit on Monday. Instead he was on an exercise bike on the side. We're not sure about Brown's injury, as his is a new one, so check back in later with word on that. Freshman receiver Malcolm Mitchell, who was dealing with some sort of muscle injury in his leg, also wasn't practicing.

- Some players are healing: Ray Drew (shoulder) and Amarlo Herrera (shoulder) were both back taking reps, albeit in green jerseys. But they look on track.

Boise State game details

- In case you were wondering, the officials for the Georgia-Boise State game are slated to be from the SEC. That's on-field and replay, according to the game contract officially signed in June. (I wasn't sure if this had been announced already, but it was new to me, so I thought I'd pass it along.)

- Officially, Georgia is the home team. But Boise State is assigned the Atlanta Falcons' locker room, while Georgia will be in the visitor's locker room.

- The east end zone will be painted with Boise State's logo and colors. Georgia gets the west end zone. Midfield will be the event logo.

Future scheduling

Georgia has signed two new non-conference game contracts:

- Louisiana-Monroe will visit Athens on Nov. 7, 2015. Georgia will pay the Sun Belt school a guarantee of $1.2 million.

- Southern University, an FCS (or Div. 1-AA) school, will visit on Sept. 5, 2015. Georgia is paying Southern a guarantee of $650,000.
