William H. Shaw Christmas Tournament tips off Wednesday

With the high school basketball season now in full swing, many local basketball teams will get a useful test with the start of the William H. Shaw Christmas Tournament Wednesday.

Fourteen boys teams and 14 girls teams are set to play in the four-day tournaments. Games are spread out between several of the Muscogee County high schools, including Carver, Columbus, Jordan, Kendrick, Northside, Shaw and Spencer.

Here are the opening round matchups according to location. For the matchups Thursday on, consult the bracket below.

Columbus High School

G3 - 4 p.m - Columbus vs. Northside Girls

G1 - 5:30 p.m - Carver vs. Russell Co. Girls

G25 - 7 p.m. - Carver vs. Russell Co. Boys

G26 - 8:30 p.m. - Columbus vs. Auburn Boys

Shaw High School

G4 - 4 p.m. - Hardaway vs. Central Girls

G2 - 5:30 p.m. - Shaw vs. Greenville Girls

G23 - 7 p.m. - Central vs. Hardaway Boys

G24 - 8:30 p.m. - Northside vs. Shaw Boys

Kendrick High School

G15 - 5:30 p.m. - Kendrick vs. Quitman Co. Girls

G13 - 7 p.m. - Stewart Co. vs. Jordan Girls

G35 - 8:30 p.m. - Kendrick vs. Stewart Co. Boys

Spencer High School

G12 - 5:30 p.m. - Marion Co. vs. Notasulga Girls

G36 - 7 p.m. - Marion Co. vs. Notasulga Boys

G38 - 8:30 p.m. - Spencer vs. Quitman Co. Boys
