The winner of the Ledger-Enquirer’s High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll is . . .
Mia Bailon of Harris County is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
Bailon, a junior swimmer, won 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly at the Columbus city championships. She qualified for the state meet in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s seven nominees, Bailon received 50% of the 49,656 votes from our readers. Voting started Tuesday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
