Ja’Mya Jenkins of Shaw is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

Jenkins, a senior cheerleader, is captain of the Shaw cheer team for football and basketball seasons. She has a 3.0 grade-point average. She is a member of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America).

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.

Among this week’s four nominees, Jenkins received 57% of the 26,799 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
