Mekhi Benton of Hardaway is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

Benton, a senior point guard on the basketball team, is averaging 15 points and 5 assists per game this season. He scored 24 points last Friday and 21 points last Saturday. He has a 4.0 grade-point average.

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a male athlete for this poll.

Among this week’s six nominees, Benton received 49% of the 35,714 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
