Georgy Helmers of Pacelli is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.

Helmers is a sophomore on Pacelli’s track and field team. During the March 29 meet at Starr’s Mill, she won the 1,600 meters with a personal-record time of 4:59 (top 10 in the state this season) and won the 3,200 meters in 11:04 (top 25 in the state this season).

We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.

Among this week’s two nominees, Helmers received 64% of the 5,718 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
