The Lee County Red Cross has deployed the Emergency Response Vehicle and seven local volunteers to assist in relief efforts in Prattville. Ala., one of the communities hardest hit when severe weather and tornadoes swept through Alabama Sunday.
More local volunteers are on standby in case they are needed. Ted Hampton, the Lee County Red Cross board chairman and disaster chairman, will serve as the Red Cross job director for this disaster, which the National American Red Cross has already classified as a major disaster. The Red Cross is moving volunteers, equipment and supplies from around the Southeast to help with the relief effort to come.
