The mayors of Columbus, Phenix City and Smiths Station will speak at a special ceremony in honor of the Korean/Vietnam Wall of Honor at 10:30 a.m. EDT April 26 at the site of the future wall on Airport Road in Phenix City.
The wall is sponsored by the Combined Communities of Southeast Columbus-Korean/Vietnam Wall of Honor. The group plans to honor the veterans of the two wars who returned home from the conflicts with a Wall of Honor with a veteran's name inscribed on each brick of the wall and a statue.
A singing to benefit the Wall of Honor will be held at 7 p.m. EDT that night at Central High School, 2400 Dobbs Drive. Groups expected to perform include No Compromise, Men of Faith, Favor, Gary Vidal and Friends, the Singing Oakes Family, Courts of Praise and the Elite Dance Academy, Inc.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5. Advance tickets can be purchase at Covington Bookstore in Phenix City.
The site of the wall is across Airport Road from the Phenix City Fire/Rescue station. It was first dedicated two years ago.
