Lee Commission hears biodiesel presentation

The Lee County Commission meets at 6 p.m. CDT tonight in the Lee County Courthouse in Opelika, with a short agenda including a mid-year financial overview by County Administrator Roger Rendleman.

The county commission meets twice monthly, normally on the second and last Mondays of the month unless the meeting is changed due to holidays.

In addition to the financial overview, the commissioners will see a bio-diesel presentation and update by Brian Lewis and David James.

James is the director of Alternative Energies and headmaster of Eastwood Christian School in Salem. They produce biodiesel fuel made from algae and will have a public demonstration on May 19 at the school, located at 2176 Lee road 183.

The commission holds an informal pre-meeting at 4 p.m. CDT to discuss items on the proposed agenda for possible action at the 6 p.m. formal meeting.
