Pacelli wins state baseball title
FAIRBURN, Ga. — Pacelli beat Landmark Christian 10-5 Saturday to win its first state baseball championship.
Matthew Rossi went 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBIs.
Pacelli scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ryan Redd and Michael O’Neal drove in runs with singles, and David Miller drove in a run with a double.
Stuart Wilkerson and Matthew Rossi hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the third.
David Miller drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second as Pacelli led 4-2 after two innings
Matthew Rossi hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning as the Vikings took a 3-1 lead
In the top of the first, Landmark’s Michael Leonard hit a solo homer off Pacelli starter Stuart Wilkerson.
Tanner Bryant added another solo homer for Landmark in the second.
Landmark added a pair of runs off Wilkerson in the top of the fifth. Charles Rossi replaced Wilkerson and ended the threat.
Wilkerson finished with 11 strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
