MOBILE, Ala. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, West Point Project in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 81, will conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course at the West Point Project Management Office from 6:30 p.m. -9:30 p.m. EDT July 15 and 17.
The course will provide information on navigation rules, legal requirements, new boating laws and preventing personal watercraft and boating accidents.
Participants will receive a certificate from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources upon completion of the course. The certificate will exempt Alabama residents from taking the written exam for an Alabama boating license. The course meets Georgia's law that requires completion of a safe boating course for persons age 12-15 who wish to operate a personal watercraft or boat without adult supervision.
There is a $15 fee to attend the class which will be collected during the first night. A maximum of 40 participants can be accompanied for the course on a first come, first served basis. Pre-registration is necessary, please contact the West Point Project Management Office at 706-645-2937.
