Columbus High wins state titles

Columbus High won the Class AAA state cheerleading championship Saturday morning at the Columbus Civic Center. And the girls cross country team won the state title at the meet in Carrollton.

Northside finished fourth in AAA. Brookstone finished sixth in A.

Hardaway and Harris County are scheduled to compete in AAAA finals Saturday afternoon.

Jessica Ridley finished fourth individually to lead the Columbus cross country team to the title.

Columbus' Charlie Sparks, a two-time defending state champion who had been battling a knee injury, was unable to finish the boys race.
