Auburn rallies in second half, holds off Central-Phenix City

Auburn quarterback Cameron Echols found Jason Webb for a pair of second-half touchdowns, and the Auburn defense held off a last-minute push by Central-Phenix City for a 20-14 victory on Friday at Garrett-Harrison Stadium.

Central went out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 66-yard Jonathan Wallace to J.D. McKissic and a 10-yard Wallace rush on the next drive.

Auburn made it 14-6 at halftime on a 9-yard Desmond Purter run.

Auburn improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in Class 6A Region 3. Central fell to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in region play.
