No. 1 Carver holds off Callaway to take lead in Region 5-AA race

LAGRANGE, Ga. - No. 1 Carver held Callaway scoreless in the second half while building on a 19-17 halftime lead to take a 39-17 victory on Friday at Callaway Stadium.

The win gave Carver (7-0, 4-0) sole possession of first place in Region 5-AA. Callaway dropped to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in region play.

Carver's Isaiah Crowell ran for a 64-yard touchdown on the second play of the game, and the teams traded scores with Carver taking a 19-17 lead into halftime.

Crowell, who was deemed a game-time decision to play by coach Dell McGee, was limited, carrying the ball 10 times for 81 yards. His backup, Marquez Holloway, took the majority of the handoffs and rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
