High school football: Eason resigns as Pacelli coach

Bryan Eason has stepped down as Pacelli's football coach, according to the school's athletic director.

The Vikings went 0-10 overall and in Region 4-A play under Eason this season, and Eason finishes 6-24 in three seasons as Pacelli's head coach.

Eason's resignation was the result of a mutual decision between the coach and the school, Pacelli athletic director Chris Garner said.

"(Young coaches) have things they want to accomplish, and it was just time for him to move on," Garner said. "It was a mutual decision, and we supported that."

Garner said Eason brought positive energy to the program and served as a strong role model through his three seasons there.

Eason could not be immediately reached for comment.

Assistant football coach Alan Griffin will serve as the "point person" for all Pacelli football matters until a new coach is hired, according to the letter sent to football players and their parents today and attributed to Pacelli president Danni D. Harris, grade 7-12 principal Kristin C. Turner and Garner.

The coaching position was posted online today, and the school hopes to have someone in by the spring practice session, Garner said.
