Allatoona defeats Columbus 2-1 in state soccer final

Willough Davis and Kristy Wise scored second half goals to lead Allatoona to a 2-1 win over Columbus in the GHSA Class AAA girls state soccer final on Saturday.

Madison See scored a late goal for Columbus, but the Lady Blue Devils rally fell short.

Columbus and Allatoona are scoreless after the first half in the GHSA Class AAA girls soccer state championship.

The play of the game was made by Columbus goalkeeper Anna Scogin. Off a corner kick by Allie Giresi, Sarah Whitt's header was stopped as Scogin leaped high and caught the shot at 18:30.

Columbus' best scoring chance came on about a 30-yard kick from the right side by Madison See, but the shot sailed wide of the net.

Columbus High girls soccer team will play at Allatoona at 1 p.m. today for the GHSA Class AAA state championship.
