Brookstone rallied for 17 fourth-quarter points to overcome a two touchdown deficit and grab a stirring 17-14 victory over Columbus High Saturday evening at Kinnett Stadium.
The Cougars were down 14-0 going into the final period when Brookstone quarterback Miller Page ignited the rally. Page had not completed a pass in the entire third period but the final quarter was a much different matter.
He threw a 31-yard strike to Kordell Braxton for Brookstone's first touchdown and two minutes later, hit Leye Olubowale in stride for a 59-yard score and tied the game with his second extra point.
After holding Columbus to one series of downs, the Cougars drove to the 25-yard line when Columbus' defense held. Brookstone tried to draw Columbus offside on fourth down and when that did not work, Page lined up for a 41 yard field goal and hit it to get the clinching score.

Columbus had the ball one more time but Mark McVay intercepted Columbus' Derrick James desperation pass in the final minute and the Blue Devils were called for roughing the kicker in the final seconds to send the Blue Devils to their 18th straight loss.
Prior to the interception, the Blue Devils' James had led Columbus to a 14-0 advantage as he threw for two touchdowns. He hit his favorite receiver, James Traylor, who caught five passes in the game, in the third period with a 37-yard touchdown pass and threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Essang Bassey in the second stanza for a 7-0 halftime advantage.
