Chloe Wolfenbarger of Harris County is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
Wolfenbarger is a sophomore pitcher and designated hitter on Harris County’s softball team. In games against Griffin, Columbus and Houston County last week, she batted 6-for-10 with two home runs, two doubles and four RBI. She earned the pitching victory in a 5-1 win over Houston County, allowing three hits in six innings with eight strikeouts.
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s five nominees, Wolfenbarger received 56% of the 23,767 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
