Kyle Carter, Miami Dade bounce back to beat Spartanburg Methodist

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Kyle Carter (Columbus High) and Miami Dade remained alive in the JUCO world series Thursday with a 13-2 rout of Spartanburg Methodist.

The game was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Carter, who was the designated hitter, went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Carter grounded out in the first, but he singled in two runs in the second inning to give the Sharks a 5-0 lead.

Carter later scored the sixth and final run of the innings.

He fouled out to end the third.

Carter reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth and later scored.

Miami Dade will face the winner of Thursday night's late game which featured Iowa Western and Midland (Texas). That game will be at 9 p.m. Friday

Late Wednesday, Carter had half of Miami Dade's hits, but it wasn't enough as the Sharks lost 10-0 to Iowa Western on Wednesday night at the JUCO world series.

The game was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Miami Dade was limited to just four hits. Carter got two of them as he went 2-for-3.

Carter singled in the first and fifth innings and struck out in the third.
