Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame announces Class of 2025 inductees. See the list.
The Chattahoochee Sports Hall of Fame has announced new inductees for the class of 2025.
The CVSHOF website says the group honors “those who have and those who contribute to sports from the Chattahoochee Valley.”
This year’s inductees include coaches and players spanning from the early 1900s to modern day.
The inductees are as follows.
James “Jim” Creek
Creek coached at Jordan Vocational High School for 22 years and coached both boys’ and girls’ soccer, golf and track. He also coached boys’ basketball. The release states Creek’s passion was for the Lady Red Jackets.
“He was instrumental in elevating the status of girls’ basketball in the Chattahoochee Valley,” the release says.
Creek won 377 games over 19 years and took teams to state finals eight times.
“After leaving Jordan, Creek coached at Blackmon Road and Marshall Middle Schools as well as Central and Smiths Station,” the release states.
Timothy Scott Fanning
In his 19-year career at Glenwood High School, Fanning has a record of 649-174 while winning eight state championships in eight different sports. He has also fielded two state runners-up and earned 14 region crowns.
Ninety of his players have gone on to play college or professional baseball.
Fanning has also been battling Stage 4 colon cancer, according to the release.
“Fanning has continued this fight with dignity against formidable odds,” the release says.
Garey Ingram
Ingram played baseball for Columbus High School where he was a member of Bobby Howard’s first state championship team. Ingram was drafted in the 44th round of the 1989 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He first stepped on a major league field in May 1994 and became part of a small group of players to homer in their first big-league at bat.
Ingram joined the Dodgers’ coaching staff in 2003 and moved to the Atlanta Braves’ staff at the end of the 2009 season where remains at the AA level.
Tipton “Tippo” Wiley Peddy
Peddy was a Columbus High student who played in the first football game in the area in 1908. Peddy also played in the first game of the Columbus-Jordan rivalry, in which he scored the only touchdown of the game.
Peddy joined the YMCA basketball team where he “enjoyed great success touring the southeast,” according to the release.
Peddy became director of the YMCA and was its oldest member until his death in 1957.
Adam Thomas
Thomas was born in Columbus and raised in Phenix City and Smiths Station. Thomas played for Smiths Station High and then Chattahoochee Valley Community College before coaching.
Thomas was the head coach of the CVCC baseball team for 19 years followed by two years at Pacelli. Thomas has 581 career wins with a .643 winning percentage.
Thomas took CVCC to two consecutive Junior College World Series where they finished sixth in 2014 and third in 2015.
Tiwauna Williams
Williams played for the Jordan Lady Red Jackets basketball team in the early 1980s.
“Williams was a fixture under the goal as one of coach Jim Creek’s twin towers,” the release says.
“Williams helped put girls’ basketball on the map,” the release says.
Williams went on to play for Albany State where she was a part of four SAIC championship teams.
Williams later coached for two years at Albany State and coached four years at Jordan. She was inducted to the hall of fame at both Albany State and Jordan.
How to attend induction ceremony
The induction ceremony will be Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center, North Hall.
Tickets for the induction ceremony cost $35 per person and can be purchased on the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame’s website by accessing the “Tickets” tab at the top of the site.
